The Busy Days: You know, the ones that really take it out of you.

So the last post was all about the day to day or the basics. I didn't go into too much detail about the projects I work on or the errands I run. This is what this past weekend was like and better reflects the days when stuff has to get done.

Friday:

I woke up when Donnie got home and immediately got Ara and I ready to dart out the door. Our first stop was to Once Upon a Child to find a costume for Ara to wear to my friend's birthday party at the roller skating rink. I ended up finding two. I bought both because I wasn't sure if the one I REALLY liked would fit her ok. Also I got both for under $9 Yay!

We then zoomed over to babysitting. 11a-3p and everyone thought it would be great if they poo'd at the same time. Never fear though thanks to my nurse Mama's helpful tip (swiping Vicks VapoRub) underneath my nose I was able to make it through. My family is still very surprised that I can change a diaper without throwing up. Ha! #win

We then took a crazy trek up to the Flower Factory to find a baby shower gift for a lady at church, a birthday gift for my friend having the skating party, wrapping supplies for her birthday gift and for another birthday gift we already bought for another party also on Saturday, window display supplies for March and just a couple items for Ara's birthday party.

We then did a drive by the apartment just in time for Husbie to say hi to the pooper and to carry in all of the swag we purchased earlier in the day. We then fought our way through rush hour traffic and an accident to get to church to help my friend set up for her son's 1st Birthday Party.

The 1st Birthday Party's theme was froggies and my friend did an amazing job putting everything together. Decorating was easily the best part of Friday because it was fun and Ara sat and played like the good baby she is while we had a creative blast.

Saturday:

Rise and shine! and headed out to Costume Holiday House which is the best place to purchase costumes/accessories in Central Ohio. I may be a bit biased as I used to work here but they sincerely buy and keep the best quality stuff the industry has to offer just short of having someone custom make you a costume, although they do have a great rental stock that they will alter to fit you if you give them a reasonable amount of time before your event. Anyway I was able to get some accessories for my costume for the skating party that I can reuse for Ara's Alice and Onederland Birthday party at the end of March. (more to come on that party later)

Quick stop at Walgreen's by the church for camera batteries. I made the mistake a couple weeks ago buying cheaper ones at a store that sells "passed down" items. I've decided that batteries are not where I need to be cutting back costs. I just got angry.

Off to party! The party was a great success! Ara and I played with balloons, ate yummy food, visited and chatted (ok she squealed) with friends, voted on who we thought the baby looked the most like (we voted for dad), watched him tear into his cupcake and get icing all over himself and lastly took pictures with the Birthday boy. Everyone seemed to appreciate all of the thought and creativity that my friend put into the event and it really was super cute.

We then made a quick trip to our storage unit. Soon this unit won't be necessary (yay moving), but I dug out an old crinoline I've used in a variety of projects. I wanted to dye it for a friend to wear to the skating party and for future happiness. I wanted bright pink synthetic dye, but the store only sold purple. Either way after stopping at the store and dying the crinoline at my inlaws, I left with a pretty perfect purple crinoline for my friend to rock out in at the skating party.

At home we spent a short bit of time with Daddy before he had to leave for work. I got Ara into both, yes both, costumes and laid down for a nap. My friend came over, we got her dressed up in her pretty purple tutu happiness and then I changed my mind a couple times before deciding to dress up like an over the top rich lady complete with fur and tiara. We packed up the sleepiest pooper and off we went.

The skating party! Well I don't skate. In any way shape or form. I hate skating, roller skating, ice skating, wet floors and icy sidewalks are positively evil. I am like a ball on toothpicks and it just doesn't work out well for me. I avoid having my tail bone come in harsh contact with hard floors at all costs. *Shudder*

So we chatted with friends, drank an ICEE, took pictures, watched bad skaters, watched good skaters, dubbed one really smooth skater "Usher on Ice" which I think should be a thing, played arcade games, won tickets, used tickets to buy ridiculously huge stick-on mustaches and took more pictures and danced around a bit to the sick beats :) I made my Fitbit goal of 10,000 steps for the first time ever and was super excited!

I came home,  put the sleepiest baby to bed and posted pictures before crashing.

Sunday:

Up, up we go! Got Ara up and dressed for church, but I unfortunately did not leave enough time for a shower for myself (mistake). Arrived at church and dropped off Ara in the nursery (sigh of relief!) I said hi to Ara's Godparents who were in town for the day and then ducked into the cafe to help set up for the baby shower.
Ara Ready for the Superbowl
I remember I was super nervous that no one was going to attend the shower that the church threw for me. I just didn't think that I was close enough to anyone to come. However, I was so blessed and touched that so many ladies ended up coming to mine. Even ladies I barely knew their names came and were so generous. I have been trying therefore to make an effort to help as I can with showers. The church ladies always put together such a nice party. I had a good time helping set the table and arranging all the pieces and parts while spending time with such nice people :)

After the service was over I caught our friends in time to ask them not to come over to our apartment until after I had some time to clean up a bit (it was a hideous mess). They had errands to do anyway (Whew!) but I still shed a tear or two from embarrassment/exhaustion. Once I got home though, Ara laid down for a nap and I was like a tornado of efficiency. I even vacuumed the ceiling fan which I think has led to my downfall. Ara woke up and played towards the end of my insane cleaning spree and then we both napped in the recliner after I fed her.

Donnie woke up and took care of Ara while I showered and then our friends arrived (perfect timing!) We then watched the superbowl. Well we watch commercials and the halftime show. We used to go to our church's event, but they watch the game and chat during commercials and we do quite the opposite. I like our low key evening. Donnie made chimichangas and some chip dip and we ate some stale left over Christmas cookies (their last hurrah). This has become our yearly tradition with Ara's Godparents :)

The Result:

Well I interpreted my not feeling well yesterday as allergies/asthma flaring due to my ceiling fan excursion, however it was clear last night when Donnie got home that this was worse. He made me take some meds and go to bed early. Well today I woke up and called my Dr.... yay Zpack! Hoping this doesn't last long. For now this pic sums up how I feel and Hello Kitty makes me happy ... I have this mug :)
