Pinterest: The Pins I HAVE Done

Okay in the interest of focusing on things I HAVE accomplished while being a stay at home mom. Here are some projects, many of which came from Pinterest.

Apartment Projects:

I have been working on cleaning out my closet for a very long time and for awhile did this turn your hangers around thing to marker the items I haven't been wearing. Well I finally just went through and started purging. I also ended up going through Donnie's dresser (love you!) I bagged up things to throw away, to donate, to consign and to use in a memory quilt and took them to their respective destinations. Donnie's closet is next and he has until the move to do it or I go in there (muwah ha ha ha).

I make homemade dishwasher detergent. Again another Pinterest find. The recipe I use can be found here. This is just one small way that I can save some money (only have spent maybe $5 since initial supply purchase over a year ago) and I think it does a decent job keeping our dishes clean.

I organized all of my nail polish on this nifty little shelf that I found at the goodwill. I went looking for a couple old spice racks as seen on Pinterest, but thought that I could make this work (I didn't find any spice racks). Eventually I will paint it to match the bathroom (Blue, white or silver... still pondering).

I have also cleaned out two major closets (this was not as easy to do as it is to type/read), organized my cupboards in the kitchen, cleaned out my stationary drawer (next step using said stationary), canned loads of apples with my mom, kept four houseplants alive (this is miraculous as my mom has soaked up all green thumb genes and left none to trickle down to me), created an entry way area to stash coats/shoes (which will be obsolete once we move... yay more closests) and you know general day to day stuff (read previous post).

Christmas Projects:

A friend and I made these lovely little desserts for a contest at her work. They are not perfect, but I think they were darn cute and the nutella was yummy! Below is the Pinterest pic for comparison :)

Again ours were a bit sloppy but still soooo cute. We didn't win the contest due to the hard question of cuteness vs. deliciousness and clearly her coworkers are not nearly the nutella fans that I am.

I made ornaments like the ones above for myself and family members as Christmas gifts this year using this recipe I found on Pinterest. I ended up not painting the whole ornament one color but rather painted feet green and hands red on white backgrounds and then adding glitter (duh). Mine also "puffed" up a bit so I am not sure how they will hold up over time. I am hoping for the best though.

These yummy delights were also made with my friend. I think she found the recipe on Pinterest. Here is the recipe I found on Pinterest. I have seen them called resurrection rolls (put the marshmallow/Jesus in the roll/tomb, bake and then it is gone). These are definitely on the make again list though. Yum!

I also made my mom two new aprons, painted a sunflower picture for my mom in law, embroidered/hand stitched names on three stockings for a lady at church, baked a crap-ton of cookies  with my mom (I just threw out remainders and its February), crocheted silly little elf booties for Ara and found/added lights to an "ugly sweater" for her too.

Baby Projects:

Well many of these were done around Christmas (see above) but some were figured out ahead of time or are in progress still.

This has been one of the most useful things I have done and also one of the easiest stupid simple awesome as well. I simply put one of those sticky comand hooks on the back of Ara's highchair to hang bibs on. This makes them super easy to grab. My only wish is that I had taken the money to go out and buy a larger hook so that I could hang more bibs on it. I ended up just re-using one I already had which really does just fine.

I am in the middle of planning Ara's 1st Birthday Party and am very excited to post about that later (many pics), but have also organized her clothing as she's grown so that what she no longer fits in gets stored for possible future babies, taken many a photo (she is well documented in the event she becomes a historical figure, breast fed until she was five months (whew), organized her toys into a couple baskets under the coffee table and an old trunk my mom gave me and made countless headbands (this one is my favorite).

Other Projects:

I threw together this bad boy of a costume for Highball Halloween (yes I know I put a picture up before but I'm proud). Pounds of feathers... LBS and there is still glitter on Ara's head. I think it is permanently embedded.

I also made my Minnie costume to match Ara's and hacked and dyed an old robe (that was dark green) so that Donnie could go as Mickey (he already had the hat).

Not to shabby for absolutely last minute.

Carved a pumpkin in two stages :)

I was in dear friends' wedding with my husband on Ara's one month Birthday. She was still in the NICU so didn't require a babysitter. These friends are her godparents and we are so honored to have been a part of their special day. I was still swollen from my C-Section, but if Ara was still in me I would have had to be sitting in a chair from much more swelling.

Let's see anything else that has fallen through the cracks? I hosted a Pure Romance party (ooh la la), gone on many adventures (future post dedicated to travel) and survived being a new mom... at least thus far.
